Finally! An Update!

So, I'm finally back in the blogging world. Sorry I haven't posted for so long. We had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed having Carey home every day. We had many plans about things we wanted to accomplish, but nothing got done. Oh, well!! We enjoyed our time together. We had some friends and some of Carey's cousins come visit, and some other prospects that didn't pan out. It's always fun having company and talking and playing games.

Here are some pictures we took of cutting down our first tree ever! Carey's dad and nephews came and we had a ton of fun. (P.S. If you want to look at the pictures closer, you should be able to click on them and they will show up bigger.)




Our Christmas was also wonderful. Carey spoiled me and went over our budget we had set, but it was hard being mad when I loved what he gave me (the Cricut computer program). The kids made a haul as usual. It was fun watching them open presents. I think they were both a little overwhelmed. Allie could have cared less what she got, she was more concerned with what Easton got that she could play with and take away. Go figure!! Anyway, here are our holiday pictures! FINALLY!

1. Allie is fiesty. This can sometimes drive her mom & dad up the wall, but I think in the long run it will serve her well. I'm glad I have a strong little girl.

2. Allie loves to draw and write letters. Nothing in particular. Usually just lines on a page. Sometimes it's her "shopping list." She loves to act so grown up.

3. Despite all my horror stories, Allie is really a kind and loving little girl. She likes everybody to be happy and really feels bad if they are sad.

4. Allie likes to dance. Lately we're getting a lot of hair flipping, so that is a little concerning. But, she is really funny and usually goes and gets a microphone (a wooden spoon) to sing with, too.

5. Allie loves to be outdoors, especially with her daddy. She loves "hunting" deer, and anytime anyone goes to the mountains she asks them if they have seen any deer. One funny story this last summer was we were with our friends, the Stefflers, and were heading into the mountains just to look at deer. When we told her where we were going she said, "Darnit! I forgot my gun." What a daddy's girl!!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, but I might start to. :)

5. When do you put up your decorations? Sometime after Thanksgiving, when I get time.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? I have no idea. I like the cookies and divinity.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Having Matt & Wes (the shepherds) constantly nudge me & Emily (the sheep) with their staffs before it was time for the sheep.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I think I got a favorite gift every year, thanks to a great mom!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I loved growing up doing the nativity with the cousins. Now I need to start one for my little fam.

HOW TIME FLIES!!

Easton just turned 2 today. I can't believe how fast 2 years has gone! We are SO glad that he came to us when he did. He is so much fun! We had a small party with the grandmas & grandpas. It was so nice of them to come up to see us. We know it's a huge sacrifice and that it's way more travel time than "party" time, so we appreciate them so much! Also, our good friends and "family" Sarah & Trevor came up in the evening to see Easton. That was also really fun and the kids were really excited to see them. Easton got a ton of fun stuff. I think he had a hard time knowing what to play with. Of course, Allie had to try it all out too, which lead to the inevitable sibling fighting that we know and love. Anyway, it was a great day and we are so greatful to all who shared it with us.

MOTHERLY MOMENTS

Since becoming a mother, I think there are moments that make us wonder what we ever did before and how wonderful it is to have this opportunity to raise one of Heavenly Father's spirits. Last night was NOT one of those moments.

So, Carey, being the wonderful husband that he is, came home from work and surprised the family by planning a night out to the movies. So, we ate dinner, got ready, went to the Dollar Store, and went to see the movie Wall-E at the cheap theater. We, of course, got popcorn and drinks to go along with our stashed candy, and being the great parents that we are remembered the sippy cups so that our kids don't spill their rootbeer everywhere. Things were great! The movie was cute, Allie laughed, maybe a little too loudly, when the rest of the audience laughed, and Easton for the most part was quiet except for the occasional loud "HI!" to whoever was walking down the isle. We were a little over an hour into the movie when Easton starting getting restless. He would climb onto Carey's lap, climb off, and then climb over to my lap. He was sitting on my lap pretty good when all of the sudden he leaned forward and threw up all over me! Gross, gross, gross!! It was pretty bad, so I leaned over to Carey and said, "Time to go!" I was trying to figure out how to get out of my seat, while Carey, who later would tell me he wasn't sure what to do, was looking around for who knows what, when Easton let loose again, but this time it was 5 times the amount of before. What can you do!? You don't want the throw up to go everywhere so you just hold your kid close to you so that it gets as little on the seats and floor as possible. I handed my box of candy to Carey, picked up Easton, and quickly ran for the doors. I was drenched and so was Easton. My whole shirt and most of my jeans were covered in bits of taco salad, rootbeer, milk curdles, and popcorn. I went into the bathroom to at least wash our hands and his face off and when I left I turned around to see bits of stuff left on the counter. It didn't do any good to go try to clean it up because I would just leave more bits wherever I walked so I just left, which I felt terrible about. I kept asking Carey if I should go back in and tell the people, but he said to just get out of there, which was fine with me since I was trying so hard not to breathe through my nose. Carey, being the gentleman that he is, took off his shirt so I could take off mine and wear his. It was embarrassing to have to change in the parking lot, but I wasn't making the 20 minute ride home in that shirt. The jeans would just have to wait. Easton was stripped down to his diaper and covered in a blanket since it was freezing outside and we made the trip home. When we got home I noticed the shirt Carey had given me was a little wet, and realized that my bra and gotten so soaked it was soaking into the dry shirt. Anyway, it was by far the grossest motherly moment I have had yet. Allie used to always throw up a ton on us as a baby, and she would soak us then. But this time it wasn't just breast milk, baby food or formula. We also weren't somewhere that we could just jump in the shower AND we were in a very public area. Oh well! Chalk one up for us mothers that would rather catch their kids throw up somehow rather than letting it get on the floor!
